Note: STRICKLAND, Derrick (Rick) - November 15, 1960 - May 28, 2015 It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Derrick (Rick) Strickland our beloved, devoted, and hardworking Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and friend to many. Rick will be lovingly remembered by his two sons Richard & Ryan Atkins of Edmonton AB, his mother Marie Strickland of St. Johns, NL. Brothers & Sisters Ken Strickland (wife, Brenda) of Edmonton, AB, Mary Lethbridge of Aurora, ON, Michelle Strickland, Shawn Strickland, Jerry Strickland, Rodney Strickland of St. Johns, NL. Rick will also be remembered and missed by numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews and close friends and colleagues. A memorial service will be held on Friday June 5th at 4:00 PM at South Side Memorial Chapel in Edmonton 8310 104 Street. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to your choice of charity in support of Heart & Stroke research, Lupus, youth addiction, and/or homelessness. Note: It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend, Michelle Margaret Strickland in her 53 years from a lengthy illness at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday February 21, 2018. She passed in the loving arms of her twin sister, while hand in hand with her daughter and surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her brother Rick. Leaving to mourn with fond memories; her mother Marie Strickland, daughter Krista and her father Junior Spry, grandchildren Faith and Parker, siblings; Ken (Brenda) Strickland, Mary (Dan) Lethbridge, Shawn (Bev) Strickland, Dubes, Rod and Marky (Honey) Strickland special nieces, nephews, Lee, Jordan, Matthew, Shaleen, Richard, Ryan, Jessica, Stephanie and Brooke,cousins, aunts, uncles and friends, her devoted dog Lucy. Special thank you to her good friend and caregiver Patricia Noseworthy all staff and nurses at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital of 7 West and ICU and special thanks to Dr. Genge for their care and compassion. Passed peacefully away, May 6, 2023 into the waiting and loving arms of his parents Michael and Kathleen Power, and his predeceased siblings Larry, Kitty, Margaret, Elizabeth and Beverley.

Left to mourn and miss him dearly are his siblings Marie Strickland, France's Evoy (John), Tom Power (Diane), Ruth Foster (John deceased) Carol Lundrigan (John) and very dear friend Barb. In-laws Richard Kelly (Beverley deceased) Rosalind Power (Larry, deceased), Walter Ryan (Margaret). Michael took great pride in his job with Island Furniture for 40 years. He made great friends and continued to visit his co-workers even after retirement, especially Carl, Nancy and David, he loved you guys. Michael was a long time member of Special Olympics St. John's division, bowling, under the care and guidance of Maryann and Velmer and all the other coaches. He enjoyed all the dances, dinners, travel and tournaments and of course his medals. He was so proud of his unexpected gold medal from Thunder Bay winter games He was a member of the Hub where he played darts and was very proud of all of his friends and team mates. He welcomed the guidance of Winnie and Jim who guided him over the years. He entertained singing and playing his spoons every where he went.

Michael had a large number of nieces and nephews and their children. Sean Walsh made his day anytime he took him to his cabin with his father and sister. Michael lived with a number of siblings since his mom and dad passed. He was 6 when his dad died and 17 when he lost his mom. The Best moment of his life was getting and maintaining his own apartment 8 years ago in Kellys Brook apartments. He fit in so easily and loved them all. Some referred to him as Little Mike.

His numerous daily phone calls will be missed. He was so proud of all he accomplished, despite his disability. His pride and joy was his membership with SPECIAL "O" Rest in peace Michael and may God hold you in his arms till you find your family.

The family will receive visitors at Caul's Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday , May 15, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. from Caul's Chapel with inurnment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to Special Olympics or to the HUB in his memory.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Therese “Marie” Strickland (nee Power), who died surrounded by her loving family on May 14, 2024 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital at the tender age of 85 years.

Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Kathleen Power; sisters: Katherine “Kitty” Pittman, Elizabeth Hennebury, Margaret Ryan, and Beverly Kelly; brothers, Larry and Michael; children: Rick, Michelle and Rodney; nephews: Billy, Chris and Allan; and niece, Joanne.

Leaving to mourn, her children: Kenneth (Brenda), Mary (Dan), Shawn (Bev) and Jerry “Doobs”; siblings Frances (John), Tom, Ruth and Carol (John); grandchildren: Richard, Matthew, Krista, Ryan, Lee, Jordan and Shaleen; great-grandchildren: Austin, April, Faith, Abbygail, Parker, Aubrey and Adeline; very special great-granddaughter, Faith, whom Mom was a second mother to and adored; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, especially her friend and neighbor, Lorraine Boland and special friend, Diane Power.

Marie was a loving and compassionate and caring mother, daughter, sister and friend to all that knew her. She had a zest for life. She had a love for darts, walking, talking on the phone and was very passionate about her family get togethers. She will be dearly missed by all.

Special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, 7th Floor West. Your kindness and compassion was greatly appreciated. Thank you to her sister Ruth for going above and beyond. The family was very appreciative. And lastly, a very special thank you to her brother Tom who was always there for the good and bad throughout her life. Mom loved you so much.
